BAG POLICY

Bags are permitted; however, they are subject to inspection upon entry. This policy is in place to maintain the safety and security of all attendees and guests.

PROP WEAPONS

  1. All bags and props are subject to a security check upon entry.
  2. Functional weapons of any kind are not permitted, including but not limited to: real swords, knives, blades, scissors, bats, guns, cap guns, gel blasters, air-soft guns.
  3. Approved materials for props are foam, rubber, cardboard, plastic, papier-mâché, and other light materials.
  4. Wooden props are generally ok, but will be reviewed by security. Wooden bats are not permitted. Wooden props must not have pointed ends.
  5. Prop firearms that resemble real firearms must have a brightly colored cap.
  6. Costumes that contain hate symbols or symbols of hate groups are not permitted.
  7. All bladed prop weapons must be blunt. Live steel (metal) is not permitted on the venue grounds.
  8. Bows must have low string tension, and be incapable of firing.
  9. Replica metal/bladed weapons purchased from a dealer at South Texas Comic Con must be kept in the box. Unboxing or handling the replica on the convention floor is not permitted.

COSPLAY AND GENERAL ATTIRE

  1. Costumes deemed lewd, obscene or offensive by South Texas Comic Con or the McAllen Convention Center will not be permitted into the event.
  2. Your costume must cover, at minimum, as much as a typical bathing suit. Breasts need to be majority covered and buttocks must be completely covered.

  3. Attendees wearing tight-fitting costumes are required to wear appropriate undergarments (ex: dance belts).

  4. Bare feet will not be permitted while on the convention floor for your safety.

  5. Cosplay, costumes, and apparel with hate symbols, pornographic images or offensive language are not allowed.

  6. Cosplay, costumes, and apparel intended to harass, provoke, or intimidate are not allowed.

  7. Costumes must not obstruct or impede the flow of traffic or entryways.

  8. Oversized costumes, costumes that obscure the vision of the wearer, or with large extensions (ex: wings), should have a designated “handler,” to assist the wearer through hallways, doorways and crowds.

  9. Costumes should not closely resemble or imitate real life law enforcement, military personnel or healthcare uniforms.

PHOTOGRAPHY

  1. Attendees are permitted to bring cameras to the event.
  2. Please ask permission before photographing attendees, vendors or anyone else in attendance at the event.
  3. Do not obstruct walkways, entrances or exits when photographing/recording.
  4. Interviewing/recording celebrity guests is not permitted. Purchase of video recordings/shoutouts is offered by some celebrity guests in attendance, however if you ask to interview a celebrity guest in the autograph booth you will be asked to leave the booth.
  5. Photographing/recording celebrity guests at a distance while they are in their autograph booth is not permitted.
  6. Large lighting setups/equipments are not permitted on the convention floor without prior written approval.
  7. Pictures and video taken by South Texas Comic Con official photographers and videographers during the event are the property of South Texas Conventions LLC and may be used by South Texas Conventions LLC for advertising and promotion of future events.

PETS/SERVICE ANIMALS

  • In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, service animals are permitted and welcome. Pets and emotional support animals are not permitted inside the venue.

ANTI HARASSMENT POLICY

  • South Texas Comic Con strictly prohibits harassment of and/or discrimination against anyone in attendance at the event. Incidents will be met with appropriate action. Harassment includes offensive verbal comments (related to gender, disability, physical appearance, race, religion, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation), sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Please report any incidents of harassment as soon as possible to the nearest police officer, South Texas Comic Con staff member or McAllen Convention Center security guard. All event and venue staff will be in clearly marked shirts or uniforms. Staff can always be found in the information booth near the entrance of the exhibit hall.

VIOLATION OF ANY OF OUR POLICIES WILL RESULT IN EJECTION FROM THE CONVENTION.
